School: Rzeszów University of Technology

 

Describe your school and field of study:

My studies are related to architecture and urban planning. During design
classes, we design both residential and public buildings as well as entire
housing estates, parts of cities and urban complexes, and landscape
architecture projects. My field of study also includes construction classes,
thanks to which I can get to know the work of civil engineers.

My university is modern and constantly developing. In addition to
architecture, you can study civil engineering here. Both fields of studies architecture and civil engineering work together, therefore both architects and civil engineers graduated from my university have comprehensive knowledge and are able to cope with various tasks.

Why did you apply for an internship at DOMUS? 

I applied for an internship at DOMUS because I wanted to gain professional experience and develop my skills under a professionals. Projects carried out by DOMUS interested me. It is something that I would like to do in my future career. I believe that the experience I can gain while working on similar projects in DOMUS will be useful in my future career. 

Can you list some of the projects you worked in during your internship at DOMUS, and your role in them? 

  • PLANTAGEVEJ (kitchen project) - Designing kitchen propositions for client, researching, 2D and 3D modeling and making visualizations
  • LIDL ROSENVÆNGETS HOVEDVEJ (proposition of elevations) - 3D modeling of building and surroundings in Sketchup
  • LIDL KILDEGARDS PLADS (proposition of elevations and site plan) -  3D modeling of building and surroundings in Sketchup and making visualizations
  • NYRUPSGADE 39-43 - 3D modeling, researching, designing, making 3D visualisations
  • FÆLLESHUS - 3D modeling of building and surroundings in Sketchup

What kind of assignments and tasks have you worked with during your internship at DOMUS?

I worked in various computer programs such as Sketchup, Adobe package (photoshop, indesign), AutoCad, Enscape. My main
tasks were 3D modeling and designing conceptual projects and making visualizations.

Describe the difference between studying and working as an intern at DOMUS?

Working at DOMUS was a pleasure. It was definitely less stressful than studying. I had time to look for my own way to complete the tasks and the opportunity to come up with my own suggestions, and when any difficulties appeared, I quickly received help. I didn’t feel as much pressure as I do during my studies. 

What did you learn at DOMUS?

I learned the daily life and routines in an architecture office. I
learned what the design process looks like. Also I developed my communication and teamwork skills.

Did the internship change your perspective on the building industry? 

Yes, I had a chance to work on real projects, which made me much more knowledgeable about the project implementation process and what issues should be paid attention to. 

Did the internship expose you to unknown areas within the building industry or unexpected interests?

Thanks to the internship, I had the opportunity to work in programs that I had not used before and thanks to the acquired knowledge, I will definitely develop my skills in these areas and programs.

Did the internship teach you something you can use in your future education/career?

Yes, for sure. Thanks to improving my skills in 3d modeling in my future
professional career, it will be easier to work on this kind of tasks. Also in
the future career I will be able to use the communication skills I acquired at DOMUS and presentation of the projects skills.

Which skills did you acquire during your internship at DOMUS?

I improved 2D and 3D modelling skills, design methods and presentation skills.

Other comments?

Domus is a very friendly office with a nice atmosphere guaranteed by the employees. Everyone is very helpful and open to discussion. I felt very welcomed by the team. Everyone is very professional and it was a pleasure to work there. I learned many things at DOMUS that I will definitely use in my future career. It was great working in DOMUS. And I am very grateful for the internship there.
